My last visit was with some friends and we all had a great night. Very tasty, filling, reasonable and nothing too much trouble. The menu is huge, all questions answered and recommendations made. Looking forward to returning

Med Mex Restaurant

At Med we serve pure Mediterranean food, always fresh and delicious. Our authentic food and surroundings are typical of a traditional Mediterranean restaurant. From the relaxed, friendly atmosphere to the fresh, delicious food – this is the place to come to in Hornsea for the real Mediterranean experience.

Customer Review – Booked a table on line and sat down around 8pm. Calamari to share for starters followed by sirloin steak and ham and mushroom pizza. All were delicious. Very friendly waiter without being ott. Reasonably prices so all in all highly recommend.

Cafe Chocolat

A cosy cafe in the town centre that also doubles as a chocolatier, where you can have a fresh panini, cake or coffee in a laid back and friendly atmosphere.

Customer Review – Lovely chocolatier and coffee shop with breakfast and lunch menu and chocolate gifts for sale. Pet friendly if sat outside. We had paninis which were great. Spot on for hygiene, social distancing and service. A fabulous cafe in the heart of Hornsea. Worth a visit.

Things to do in Hornsea

Honeysuckle Farm

Honeysuckle Farm is a family owned and operated open farm in the East Riding of Yorkshire. We are an open farm. Not a farm park so if you visit us expect to see a real working farm with a commercial herd of cows, dairy cows and a flock of commercial sheep. We also have goats, fish ponds, play areas, horses, red squirrels, a café and many picnic areas. We have been open for public visits since 1992 and we offer a unique and quirky experience of what it is like to run a farm with all its fun, challenges and tribulations in the present economic climate. If you want anthropomorphised animals try a theme park. If you want the real deal then visit Honeysuckle Farm to feed animals, watch a milking display (the milk is processed into ice cream on the farm), have a horse and cart ride with one of our huge Shire horses and chat to the farmers.

Customer Review – Lovely family run, rustic farm experience with charm. It did not have the mass commercial aspect that other farms have but we loved it and preferred it. My daughter and son fed the baby goats and sheep. We enjoyed a horse and cart ride (£1 per person) and the staff were lovely and informative. My son particularly liked the fish and it was great to be able to feed them. Great wooden play equipment dotted in the woods and we found a great butterfly tent tucked away. Very reasonable day out and we were there almost all day. Finished with an ice cream made with milk from their jersey cows which was delicious. Thank you for a lovely visit.

Hornsea Mere

The Largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire and listed as one of the Severn Natural Wonders of Britain. For boating and sightseeing of nature

Customer Review – I have always loved Hornsea Mere. Visiting my younger days and now taking our Grandsons to feed the ducts, swans, etc. It is a very lovely peaceful place when there aren’t too many people about but I love it anyway. We have watched others boating but not done it ourselves. It’s one of those special places with not too many activities but enjoyable to just sit and watch the world go by.

Hornsea Freeport

Hornsea Freeport is set amongst attractive landscaped surroundings and with a wide range of factory outlet stores, all offering up to 50% off famous brands, Hornsea Freeport is the perfect place to indulge in some retail therapy.

Customer Review – Hornsea Freeport is one of my favourite places to visit. I have been going for over forty years when they sold a large amount of pottery. I bought tons of it and used it for many, many years after which I gave it to a young couple who loved it.
I love the clothes shops; they are always a happy bunch of people and very helpful. I love the unique gift shop where I have purchased a great amount of my Fairyland which I love. Pavers are a great shop too. I always buy my winter shoes there. The Works are there too and I’m always in buying for the Grandchildren at very reasonable prices. The staff in there know us now and always happy to see us. I think it’s a lovely place to go. There’s a cafe, a shop who sells delicious icecream and of course Beach Cove where children have a great time.

Hornsea Golf Club

Why not visit Hornsea Golf Club on the East Yorkshire coast for a memorable day’s golf? Lying some 15 miles from Hull, Beverley and Bridlington, the golf course is arguably the best in the region. We also offer a Golf Society Day or a Corporate Day.

Visitors are welcome on any week day after 9.30am except Tuesday mornings, on Saturdays after 2pm and after 11.00am on Sundays subject to availability.

Customer Review – Played today with the martonian golf society and the Course is in great condition ! Some lovely holes very well thought out .. well positioned bunkers .. great Tee boxes & greens it really was a joy to play ! Only very small criticism is some of the grass round the tree plantations maybe could of been shorter (semi rough) height to help find balls but that’s been picky . Great breakfast & half way house service with warm pastries etc all in all a great day out . Thank you

Hornsea Beach

Hornsea is a classic seaside resort with an extensive sand and shingle beach. A long promenade with newly-landscaped gardens, old wooden breakwaters, plenty of parking and easy access to town facilities.

Customer Review – This is a beautifully clean beach, with miles of wide, undisturbed beach to wander along. Large public car park a minute walk from the seafront (but there is free on street parking a few streets back). Public toilet, pub, shops and fish and chip shop all within easy reach too.

As you can see from our list there is plenty of things to see and do in Hornsea with lots of choice when it comes to eating wether you are with family or friends.

If you are in Hornsea and looking for a luxury lodge park close by feel free to drop by Heron Lakes as mentioned previously we have new luxury lodges to look round.

Why Visit Hull – Heron Lakes Holiday Park

The historic port City of Hull is only a 30 minute drive away from Heron Lakes Holiday Park here’s a list of things you can consider when planning your next visit to the city centre. If you are going as a family or as a couple there are plenty of restaurants and activities to keep you busy even in todays circumstances.

Here are just a few of things we recommend when visiting for the day. Why not also come and see us at Heron Lakes as we have just received new luxury lodges.

Places to Eat in Hull

Uno’s Trattoria and Pizzeria – Itallian

Brand new Italian Trattoria Pizzeria at 153 Newland Avenue. Serving the finest of Italian cuisine.

Customer Review – Visited Unos last night, service was excellent, staff were really good, food was amazing, would definitely recommend to others. Have been numerous times and are always well looked after. Fab place.

Tapasya – Indian fine dining

Tapasya offers a truly unique dining experience using only the finest local produce cooked with a fine dining twist, it is the only restaurant in this part of the UK that showcases Indian fine dining, a culinary experience truly unique to the local area. Featuring an array of carefully crafted dishes at each restaurant, every Tapasya experience is one to remember.

Customer review – Heard about Tapasya @Marina and thought we could give it a visit. My wife had been a couple of times previously. Lovely surroundings overlooking the Marina. Good menu to choose from, we decided on the scallops which were delightful with a hint of spice. We both had lamb for mains but totally different, she had lamb ghost I had lamb shank gosht. A very large shank that was cooked to how I like it, the meat just fell off the bone and the sauce was lovely with a spicey hint. Rice and a bread basket helped get most of the sauce.
Staff attentive throughout but well in the background. We booked for 6pm but the restaurant filled up whilst we were there. Well spaced tables but not noisey with chatter.
Visit again, oh yes.

The Greek Restaurant

In the summer of 2017 The Greek Restaurant, inspired by childhood memories of Yia-Yia’s cooking and growing up in Greece, opened its doors on the popular Hull Street of Princes Avenue.  Offering a taste of authentic Greek meze, relaxed Greek hospitality in a beautiful and airy setting.

Customer Review – The food is superb. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I had the mussels, they were the best I’ve ever had. The Greek salad has to be ordered. The dip with feta cheese , red pepper and topped with chilli is fantastic ( would put the name of it but carn’t pronounce it or spell it) . One of the best places in Hull

Papa’s Fish & Chips

Located in the heart of the city – Papa’s Cafe Tea Rooms offers the perfect retreat for the whole family.
Our restaurant make the ideal stop for our luxurious afternoon tea and award winning fish and chips.
Our elegant restaurant seats over 100 guests with outdoor seating and a fully licensed bar area.

Customer review – We visited Hull for the day and searched online for places to eat. We liked the look of Papas so decided to pay them a visit. I’m so glad we did. Excellent haddock, chips and mushy peas – really enjoyed it. The service was really good too – Jenny was very attentive and friendly. Will definitely return.

Hull Sashimi

About this restaurant- Sashimi serves variety of delicious Japanese dishes. Be sure you try our dishes cooked with the freshest ingredients and delicious sauces prepared by our chef! We work hard to ensure that we are serving high quality, fresh and healthy food to our customers.

Customer Review – The food here is amazing, probably some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had in the whole of the UK. The food is consistently great and the wait is never long. There’s a huge variety on the menu and the staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. Although it’s slightly expensive, I think it’s definitely worth the money and I’ve never had a bad experience here, I’d definitely recommend coming here.

Things to do in Hull

Like mentioned previously these activities are subject to change due to the current circumstances, all have social distancing in place

The Deep

Visit Hull’s award-winning aquarium The Deep, which is home to over 5,000 animals. Marvel at amazing marine life including magnificent sharks & rays, the UK’s only pair of Green sawfish, a colony of Gentoo penguins, Loggerhead sea turtles & more. Go on a journey through prehistoric seas, past tropical lagoons, into the vast open oceans, down to the darkest depths, through the chilly Kingdom of ice & into the future. Catch the daily dive show at 2pm, penguin feeds at 11:30am & 3:30pm as well as getting hands on in a touchpool session with some animals native to British shores. Take a walk through the viewing tunnel & finish your visit with a ride in the glass lift through the 10 metre Endless Ocean tank. Little nippers can also enjoy the interactive magic floor, fossil brushing station & soft play area.

Customer Review – We really enjoyed our visit to The Deep. It’s a brilliant experience for all ages with lots of interactive and informative exhibits and amazing display tanks with a wide variety of marine life. Very well laid out, with an easy to follow route – we felt very Covid-19 safe. Great view of the Humber estuary from the cafe. We will be back!!

Hull Minster

Your place to Worship, Enjoy, Explore, Belong. Hull Minster is, at one and the same time, an amazing building and a vibrant and diverse community of God’s people. We love the fact that we can offer; worship from the traditional to contemporary, on Sundays and during the week; an amazing building to explore and enjoy for history and events, and an extended family where everyone is welcome to belong, whoever they are and no matter what they believe. Our cafe, Minster Kitchen, is open whenever the Minster is open so do pop down and enjoy a wonderful selection of homemade cakes, biscuits scones, savouries and soup.

Customer Review – It’s always nice to visit a Minster, and as we don’t have that many close to where we live, I do make a point of visiting Hull Minster whenever I’m there. Well looked after, this fine piece of architecture stands proud shadowing this city.

East Park

East Park fully opened in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. This Grade II listed park recently benefited from a council assisted lottery grant totalling £10 million and has been transformed into a vibrant green space where you can enjoy modern attractions and discover historic treasures. There’s something for everyone – you can take a stroll around 130 acres of parkland, brave a ride on our Wicksteed splash boat, visit our Animal Education Centre, visit the new library at the Pavilion and enjoy afternoon tea in the Pavilion cafe.

Customer Review – We thoroughly enjoyed our walk around the park spending about 90mins walking around the lake and gardens. Good car park, though I imagine it can get quite busy. This is a beautiful park that was mainly well tended to especially given its size. Nice selection of trees. I most enjoyed the Mick Ronson garden with its splendid statue. With the COVID-19 situation not everything was open. The playgrounds look fun. Looking forward to meeting up with the grandchildren – I’m sure they’ll love it.

Ferens Art Gallery

Ferens Art Gallery re-opened to the public on Friday 13 January 2017 following its £5.1m refurbishment, celebrating the start of Hull’s year as UK City of Culture. Opened in 1927, the award winning Ferens Art Gallery combines internationally renowned permanent collections with a thriving programme of temporary exhibitions. The Gallery has a varied education and events programme that includes tours, talks and art workshops. The gallery’s first-class permanent collection of paintings and sculpture spans the medieval period to the present day. These include European Old Masters, particularly Dutch and Flemish, portraiture, marine paintings, modern and contemporary British art, including video. Highlights include masterpieces by Frans Hals, Antonio Canaletto, Stanley Spencer, David Hockney, Helen Chadwick and Gillian Wearing.

Customer Review – Really good way to spend an hour. Around half of the artworks change regularly, so it’s not a case of ‘seen that, done it’. You can visit a few times a year and see something new each time. Not many activities for kids within, but it is interesting. Mainly paintings, but a few sculptures. Cafe available at the back which has waterfront seating during hot weather. Reasonably priced with a fair selection of foods and drinks available.

St. Stephen’s Shopping Centre

St Stephen’s is one of Hull’s most popular shopping destinations. The centre offers your favourite brands and guarantees a stylish shopping experience. If it’s rest and relaxation you’re looking for why not take time out in one of our restaurants or cafes and with over 800 parking spaces – your visit to St Stephen’s couldn’t be easier!

Customer Review – Lots of choice of shops. Even my husband spent time shopping, which is highly unusual! The mall itself is interesting in that it is indoor, but cold like outside, so be prepared to wear coats. Had a wonderful meal in Zizi and the staff couldn’t do more to help.

This is only a small amount of things on offer at Hull If you are planning on visiting Hull why not come and have a look at potentially your new luxury lodge holiday home at Heron Lakes.
